Well, here we are with Page 1 of construction
Time to get 'out of the closet' so
to speak....boxes everywhere!
Since our display will not be as large
this year, many of the pieces will return to storage. Others will
be used in
Snow Town 2008 created by our granddaughter
We are using OSB boards this year.
They are still 5/8" thick, however the cost is much less
than the particle board.
Once they are cut and trimmed to size,
they are painted white.
Here you see the painted and trimmed
board for this section. Again this year we are using floral buckets
to support the display. This area and
the one on the right of the fireplace will be slighly higher than
past years.
This is what we are calling the 'Country
Area'. It will have a river, ski and snow play area and a church
to the right.
Our plan is to have snow cascading
down the side of the fireplace with
a waterfall. The falls will pour into a creek that will run to
the back
of the display near the church.

and below)
A test of some lighting. We are not
using a blue background this year.
We hope that the brown wall color will
give the look of dusk/dawn.
So, that's it for day one of construction.
Be sure to check back every day or so for updates.
